Sometime all you need is a good friend who is willing to climb to the top of a hill and drink an entire bottle of sparkling apple juice with you while on a “date”…
Melody and I have climbed Gibraltar Rock at Paul Lake more than once but one of the last times we were up there she made the comment that it would be a good place for a date. There has never been anyone else up there when we’ve hiked up and the view is pretty awesome. It’s just a nice quiet place to hang out.
Now Melody and I, being the ridiculous people we are, decided since we are both single and have no one to take us on a date we might as well make the most of it and take each other on a date. So we packed our camera gear and hit up the grocery store for some snacks, namely the sparkling apple juice because it is delicious, and hit the trail.

The climb up to the top of Gibraltar Rock is steep but short and well worth the view. We had only been up there for a few minutes when our friend the chipmunk decided to join us. He was VERY friendly and would have climbed all over us if given the chance. We hung out with the chipmunk for a while and made quick work of our food before deciding we were getting cold and packed everything up.

I think we laughed the whole way up about how we were actually hauling a couple of gaudy glasses and food never mind a glass bottle of fizzy juice (not only heavy but breakable, which sounds perfect for a hike right??) up a hill, but it was mostly definitely worth it and I think everyone should take their friends on a “date” every now and again.
