Sometimes you have to believe in the impossible even if everyone around you thinks you are crazy. Dreams come and go. Some big, some small. Some are what gets you out of bed in the morning.
I think the hardest thing with dreams is that not everyone around you is going to understand them. It is easy for everyone to see every reason why you can’t do something and for some reason it is way harder to look at the reasons why a dream could be a reality.
I remember when I first started telling people I was moving for school. The inevitable first question was always about what I was going to study. When people heard photography I had every response you could think of from people who thought it was cool to people who thought it was a complete waste of money. I will always remember one persons response was a lifted eyebrow…that was all. It took me more than a few years to pay off the debt from school but I am still glad I had the opportunity to go to photography school.
I think the minute you start thinking that you have no chance, when you stop dreaming, is when you start to give up. If there isn’t that little flicker of hope then there is no reason to keep creating. There is no reason to take another photo, to write another blog post, to enter a contest…whatever it may be. Just remember it’s ok to have big crazy dreams. No they are not always going to work out but you will never know unless you try so don’t let anyone tell you to not get your hopes up. Believe in the impossible.
