DIY Christmas Wrapping Paper

DIY Christmas Wrapping Paper - The Monday Creative

DIY wrapping paper is one of my favourite things. I can’t remember the last time I actually bought any sort of gift-wrap aside from ribbon. So with that in mind I thought I would share some simple DIY Christmas wrapping paper ideas.

I tried to keep the ideas to ones that don’t take much in the way of supplies so anyone can do them.

Supplies

  • Paper
  • Christmas Stamp (or whichever kind of stamps you want)
  • Sharpie (or any felt pen)
  • Paint
  • Paint Brush
Stamps

Using stamps to make wrapping paper is one the easiest ways to do it. It’s quick, simple and it dries right away. I chose to use a tree stamp that I made a couple years ago. The stamp itself isn’t all that pretty but it gets the job done.

Use any stamps you have if trees are not your thing or you don’t as much of a Christmas vibe.

Christmas Lyrics

This is another quick and simple way to make wrapping paper. Find a Christmas song you like and write out the lyrics till the page is full. You could also just write Merry Christmas over and over if you don’t feel like looking up lyrics. It doesn’t matter how neat your writing is (my writing is absolutely terrible, just saying) so if you are in a hurry and don’t have time to write out everything in a fancy way it still works.

Paint Splatter

I love the paint splatter look. This one could go for any occasion though I chose red and white as my colours to keep with the Christmas theme. This is a little more on the messy side and definitely takes more time because you have to wait for the paint to dry but it is so worth it. I just get a tiny amount of paint on the brush, dip it in water and then flick the brush with my finger until the page is covered.

Christmas Trees

I love this one because it is Christmassy but not at the same time depending on the colours you go for. I recommend sticking with lighter colours so that the trees stand out against the paint. This is as easy and painting some ovals (they don’t have to be perfect by any stretch of the imagination) on the page and once they are dry going over with sharpie to make the “trees” which is literally just a triangle with a line out the bottom. Even someone like me who can’t draw whatsoever can manage trees like those.
